About

Dr. Colleen Channick is a nationally recognized interventional pulmonologist who provides both inpatient and outpatient care in Westwood and Santa Monica, and performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in both settings. She is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine, and is a diplomat of the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology.

Dr. Channick provides specialized care for patients with pleural disease, pulmonary disease, pulmonary nodules and central airway obstruction, among other conditions. She performs a range of interventional procedures to diagnose pulmonary conditions, including transbronchial and endobronchial biopsies, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) to diagnosed lymph node enlargement in the chest, and navigational bronchoscopy to diagnose pulmonary nodules. She also performs minimally invasive procedures to treat malignant and benign diseases of the central airways, including tracheobronchial stenting; laser, cryotherapy, and airway dilation along with bronchial thermoplasty to treat severe asthma; and bronchoscopic lung volume reduction to treat COPD.

Dr. Channick received her medical degree and completed a cardiovascular research fellowship at Harvard Medical School. She then completed her internal medicine residency, pulmonary and critical care fellowship, and a specialized interventional pulmonology training program at UC San Diego Medical Center.

Before she joined UCLA Health in 2018, Dr. Channick spent nine years in Boston as an associate physician at Massachusetts General Hospital and an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School. She established the Interventional Pulmonary Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and served as the medical director from 2009-2016. She was also the site director for the Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship at Mass General Hospital from 2013-2018. Dr. Channick is happy to be back in Southern California, where she was raised.

In additional to her clinical work with patients, Dr. Channick is a professor of medicine in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where she has led trainings on airway complications in lung transplant, bronchoscopy procedures and tracheostomy tube management, among other topics. She also conducts interventional pulmonology research, which has been published in several scientific journals.

Dr. Channick is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the American Association of Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology and the World Association of Bronchology, among other professional societies.
